Making it easier to sit or stand at work (with Revit)

Here are two things we know…

#1.  It’s not good to sit down all the time

#2.  Architects and interior designers are busy people

That’s why the first product we’re releasing in our Revit™ library of 3D CAD models is the Aktiv sit-stand desk. Saving specifiers time, and getting people standing up and sitting down throughout the day.

As part of our mission to make life easy for architects and interior designers, we’re excited to announce that we’ve embarked on a programme to create Revit models of all our main furniture items. And the first release is the Aktiv sit-stand desk. The Revit models will be freely available to download from our website and each month we’ll be releasing new models.

We believe that by providing the right information, in the right format, we can save interior designers and architects time and hassle on commercial fit-out projects.  We take care of the details so that the designers can focus their skills on designing unique workplaces that delight their clients.

Why get Aktiv?

Aktiv is our first Revit model because it’s one of our most popular products. That, and the fact that we really believe in the health benefits provided by mixing sitting and standing at work.

Studies show that no matter what your total sitting time is, regular interruptions from sitting can dramatically improve your health and wellbeing, as well as your productivity. Research recommends a mix of sitting, standing, and moving throughout the workday – and not too much of any one activity.

But the problem with a lot of sit-stand desks on the market, is they are too slow to use. The typical system uses a screw thread or hydraulic adjustment, activated by means of a hand crank or electric motor drive. Adjusting up and down over the 400-500mm height range required for sit-stand can take a long time.  And the problem when things take a long time, is they don’t get used. This dramatically reduces the effectiveness of the workstation because the most benefit is gained by spending some time standing every hour.

In contrast to these slow desks, the Aktiv range provides instant’ height adjustment  – from lowest to highest position in just 0.9 seconds. The desk height can be changed as quickly as you can stand up! But don’t worry, it’s very smooth. Whatever is on your desk, stays put. Most importantly, because it’s so easy, you’ll be more inclined to change the height of the desk many times during a day. This maximises the health benefits of the sit/stand concept.

Euro Corporation by Instyle Design.

The project used a mix of Aktiv and Motiv for their workstations. “The team at Crestline are great to deal with and nothing is too much trouble. They worked closely with our Interior Designer to make sure our colour palette was warm and welcoming, whilst looking professional and polished. We even had some bespoke furniture requirements which Crestline took on without any fuss and now everything is in place, it’s such an amazing workspace and everyone loves it. We have had customers come in for meetings and ask us where we got our furniture from, so of course, we have had no hesitation in recommending Crestline for their great service and superior office furniture.” – Euro Corporation
